A ball valve is mainly used as a shut off valve,when the lever is in-line with the pipe, the valve is open, and when the valve is perpendicular to the pipe, it is closed.
There are different constructions for ball valve, there are 1, 2 or 3 pieces type.
What is the advantages and disvantages for 1, 2 or 3 pieces type ball valve?
1 piece type, it has good sealing performance, but the valves can not be opened for cleaning or maintenance.
Two-piece valves can be disassembled for cleaning and inspection. Often, the 2 parts are connected by thread. If you want to separate the 2 parts for cleaning, the valve must be completely removed from the pipe.
3pieces type is the most expensive one, The parts are generally clamped together by bolt connections. The advantage of this type is the valve can be serviced without removing the entire valve from the pipeline.
